As the prices of fuels continue to rise, so is the demand for environmentally-friendly mobility, which has more and more car manufacturers bringing out CNG emission variants of their huge brand names. Among the latest entrants to the game are the Fronx CNG by Maruti Suzuki and Tata Punch CNG.
Both these beauties come in the compact payload segment and are designed mainly for an economically-minded buyer who does not want to compromise on the features or style but wants minimum running costs.
Design and Road Presence
The CNG variant of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx is based on its petrol model and thus retains the crossover design inspired by SUVs. Bold grille with LED DRLs and a coupe-like rear profile contribute to its sporty stance. Hi Tallest Inclines and Strong Roof Rails are part of this one highly rugged-looking urban adventure and adventure-loving users.”
Performance and Mileage
The Fronx CNG is powered by a 1.2-litre dual-jet petrol engine, which gives 77.5 PS and 98.5 Nm of torque in CNG mode. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and promises a fuel economy figure of around 28.51 km/kg. The Tata Punch CNG, on the other hand, gets a 1.2-litre Revotron engine churning out 73.5 PS and 103 Nm in CNG mode. This means that it uses the same 5-speed manual transmission and will deliver around 26.99 km/kg mileage. High in efficiency as both cars are, Fronx has a minor edge in fuel efficiency.
Features and Comfort
CNG will have features like the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wirelessly, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear sensors, and steering-mounted controls. The Punch CNG is offering something similar in terms of a 7-inch infotainment system that comes with Harman sound, dual airbags, ABS, and rear defogger in embellishments; though, the Punch outdoes it in terms of cabin space and a higher driving position.
Price Comparison
The starting price of Maruti Fronx CNG is around ₹8.41 lakh (ex-showroom). On the other hand, the starting price of Tata Punch CNG is ₹7.10 lakh (ex-showroom). The Punch CNG is cheaper than the Maruti Fronx CNG, but the Maruti Fronx is more expensive because it provides better mileage as well as more features. It’s only a matter of time before deciding between mileage and tech or budget and space.
